Petra, Jordan.
Often referred to as The Lost City, Petra is in danger of again
being lost due to a plunge in tourist numbers. There is no better
time to go than now to explore one of the Seven Wonders of the
Modern World because your visit will benefit the local community
and you will have many of the big sites to yourself.
March to May or October to November are the best times to go. Although it doesn’t
get overly hot or cold at any time of year.
Someone curious and a guide for safety (as well as knowledge).
Adeeb Alhasanat from Jordan Inspiration Tours is unreal.
Bedouins who still lives in homes in the rocks. And lots of
goats and sheep.
Riding around on a horse or mule – just make sure you pick a
sturdy one.
A battery pack for your phone. Petra is 264 square kilometres
(in other words, enormous) and it is incredibly easy to get lost
exploring the ruins so you’ll want to be able to call someone if
you can. Good walking shoes and a hat are also very important.
Fly to Amman, Jordan and drive two and a half hours.
