Snaking
your way around the souks, you’ll meet with a flurry of
colourful stalls and artisan shops. Intoxicating as it is, the
medina’s labyrinth of alleys and lanes can at times overwhelm. It’s
therefore wise, in navigating the bustle, to have a few key
shopping spots marked out in advance to ease your hunt for those
luscious leather mules, impossibly heavy (but fabulous) Berber rugs
and traditional crafts with a contemporary twist. Don’t keep
shopping trips confined to the ancient centre, either – some of
Marrakech’s best shops are found beyond the souks.

A one-minute walk from Jardin Majorelle, Moro is a super-chic
concept store on the famed Rue Yves St Laurent. While visitors can
eat, sleep and shop here – yes, its home to both a restaurant
serving Moroccan cuisine and a boutique hotel – the buzzy boutique
remains its main draw. With everything from textiles to fragrances
in stock, leaving here empty-handed is quite the challenge. Be sure
to sample the owner’s skincare brand, The Moroccans – your face
will thank you.

Founded in 2013 by Belgian-born Laurence Leenaert, lifestyle
brand LRNCE places focus on interior decoration and accessories.
Visitors can shop for everything from block-print tablecloths to
peppermint-hued wrought-iron chairs and ceramic vases. Punchy
colours and geometric shapes are common stylistic threads
throughout, with collections being developed in partnership with a
number of Moroccan artisans. Items are produced in limited amounts
– a fact that makes our souvenir haul seem instantly more
covetable.

Concept store 33 Rue Majorelle is well stocked with delicate
tunics, zany slippers and statement jewellery, as well as a
selection of other tempting items that would make perfect gifts.
Choose from a selection of designs by local and international
