If Architectural Digest birthed a hotel, we’re fairly certain it
would look like this. Just a short stroll from Gràcia’s
time-honoured squares, Seventy Barcelona knows how to deliver the
goods – in every sense of the word. Take a dip in the seventh-floor
pool, before skipping downstairs to the vegan spa, sauna and steam
room, where you’ll find an impressive selection of treatments on
offer. We love the Facial Flash, which promises the ultimate level
of rehydration, post-flight. Two in-house restaurants, the Patio
and Kitchen & Timeless, are also on standby for foodies looking
to get their fix.

The Shoreditch-based hospitality group’s first Spanish outpost
pays homage to its surroundings with interiors inspired by the
vibrant style of native architect Ricardo Bofill. Situated in the
east of the city, in the Poblenou neighbourhood, the 240 rooms are
decked out with locally sourced artworks, terracotta-tiled
flooring, stone lamps and sage-green headboards. Make a beeline for
the rooftop, where an inviting plunge pool and Mexican-inspired
restaurant take centre stage. You’ll find us buried beneath a plate
of tacos, margarita to hand, on one of the plush day beds. Craving
pizza? Grab a table at the all-day in-house pizza restaurant, Four
Corners, instead.

After an action-packed day spent exploring, there’s nothing more
rewarding than heading back to a hotel that feels more like a home
than a pit stop. Located in the buzzy market neighbourhood of El
Raval, Sonder Casa Luz feels world’s away from the streets that
surround it. A minimalist design is carried throughout the urban
oasis, with earth-tone furnishings complemented by warm wooden
detailing. Start your day with a fresh juice and flaky pastry on
the rooftop terrace, but be warned: you’ll have to wade through an
army of potted plants before securing a spot beneath one of the
mustard-coloured parasols.

Despite opening in 2021, this 51-key hotel has a rich history to
rival that of Barcelona’s most established boltholes. The building,
found on Rambla de Catalunya, was designed by renowned architect
Enric Sagnier in 1892 – also serving as his family home and studio
– hence the name. Marrying period details with a splash of
contemporary flair, all six room categories feature wood-panelled
walls, herringbone flooring and bright bathrooms clad with
patterned tiling. Spend afternoons sipping sangria on your private
terrace, then slip downstairs to in-house restaurant Cafè de
l’Arquitecte, where a traditional tapas menu awaits. The cod
fritters, in particular, are an absolute delight.

A hotel that comes with a private spa built in the bedrooms?
Sign us up. You’d be forgiven for assuming Hotel Mirlo was a
wellness retreat in one of Spain’s remote and rugged towns thanks
to its grand exterior – picture a sandstone facade, duck-egg-blue
shutters and striking columns that wouldn’t look out of place on a
royal palace. There are five different room types to choose from,
in various shapes and sizes, but all are finished with their own
sauna and rainforest-style shower. Given that there are also
floor-to-ceiling windows, marble walls and hydro-massage baths,
it’s borderline impossible to venture beyond your bedroom door. We
recommend doing so, however, in order to experience the
tranquillity of the Mirlo’s garden.

There are few hotels whose interiors are so dazzling that they
make us want to redesign our entire house, but Yurbban Ramblas is
up there. Located in the upper section of Las Ramblas, the boutique
hotel’s traditional 19th-century facade overlooks the legendary
Canaletas Fountain. Inside, whitewashed walls form the backdrop to
matte-black pendant lights, hand-drawn illustrations and
bookshelves stacked with classic titles. While there’s no in-house
fitness studio, guests are invited to make use of the Casall
training kit in their room, comprising bands, sliders, a
pressure-point ball and foam roller. When it comes to touring an
unknown city, it’s a given that you’ll get lost – at least three
times. Stay connected to WiFi wherever you go with the hotel’s
complimentary portable device.

That late-summer getaway you’re planning with the gang? Sorted.
At no-frills One Shot Aragó 257, 49 rooms come complete with
spacious bathrooms, king-sized beds and cosy armchairs – making for
the perfect base at which to refuel between beachside lounging and
a bar-crawl across the city. Ideally positioned in the heart of
Barcelona’s Eixample district, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it
